Co-Executive Director Invited to Speak at International Conference on the Death Penalty in Taiwan

Co-Executive Director Saul Lehrfreund, together with Professor Roger Hood, Professor Emeritus of Criminology at the University of Oxford, have been invited to speak at an international conference on the death penalty in Taiwan.The two-day conference, ‘Life and Death in Taiwan’, organised by Taiwan Alliance to End the Death Penalty, will be held between 6-7 December.

Saul Lehrfreund will present the findings of our report, The Death Penalty in Taiwan (2013) which highlights specific aspects of Taiwan’s domestic legal order that does not meet the minimum standards under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Professor Roger Hood will speak about the role of public opinion on the abolition of the death penalty.

Professor Hood and Saul Lehrfreund have also been invited to speak invited to speak at the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan on 8 December. View the programme (in Chinese only).
